Pros and Cons of Mac OS X Lion

The Pros of OS X Lion Upgrade:

  • The Finder window in OSX now has an "All My Files" shortcut that brings up all recent files sorted into medium types. This is very very cool.
  • Now you can drag Spotlight search results as shortcuts to dock or wherever!
  • Forward and Reverse within the Safari Browser is simply the swype of a finger left or right. Visual effect is like a deck of cards slide away or to.
  • Now all borders of a window are resizeable
  • Word correction while you type
  • Only $30 bucks out of the Apple App Store
  • Ableton Live runs just fine on Mac OS X Lion

The Cons of Mac OSX Lion Upgrade:

  • Mac OS X Lion crashed on me after the 3rd day. Read Article here
  • Disk Permissions needed to be repaired after Updating to OS Lion. It's quite possible disk permissions needed repair prior to Mac Lion update, but the installer should take care of this.
  • Closing the Mac Book Pro 13 Lid for a suspend is a quite lengthy process; almost 20 seconds of disk activity before settling down. Not cool for a mobile OS and my hard drive pampering awareness.
  • Was hoping for a dual Desktop menu option for dual screens.. Not yet!! Maybe sometime soon.
  • When is Apple going to make the Magic Mouse and the Touchpad use the same gesture patterns? Seems crazy that you should need a touchpad for pinch zooming and twist rotate, but the magic mouse won't deliver such gestures.. Or.. scrolling through Safari browser history with a flick left or right of a finger on the magic mouse, yet it takes two fingers to do the same action on the touchpad.. One word.. complicated! That's so not Apple.. What gives?
