Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic, Partial Upgrade

After rebooting Ubuntu 9.10 this morning, a little red box with an "x" in it appeared in the upper right system tray.

Clicking the little red "x" took me into some sort of partial upgrade workaround wizard. I clicked the partial upgrade button and everything updated.

When rechecking for updates using SYSTEM -> ADMINISTRATION -> UPDATE MANAGER, dl.google.com update source couldn't be read and I'd have to cancel the system update check as it just remained waiting for dl.google.com to respond.

I'm not sure how google became a source, but the procedure to disable dl.google.com was easy anyhow.

On the UPDATE MANAGER window click SETTINGS, then click OTHER SOFTWARE. Uncheck the entry "http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ stable main" entry and click CLOSE.

After making changes to the sources, you'll get a dialog asking if you want to reload information about available software. Click RELOAD.

Everything should be updated. Click CLOSE.
