A Tour with Broadstripe

Review of Broadstripe vs QWest DSL. Basically, Broadstripe, in my opinion, has failed to deliver what they charge for. In other words, they are screwing their customers over.

With a connection of 15mbps down and whatever up, here is a typical speedtest result at around 6:31pm daily with Broadstripe, formerly Millenium Digital Media Cable Provider:

With a connection of 1536/896 kbps down/up on Qwest DSL:

I get a speed test result of the following:

Various other places of speed tests...

Downtown Port Townsend DSL speedtest: 1321/848kbps down/up.

North Seattle using Comcast: 6945/7137kbps down/up (wow.. look at the down/up ratio!!)

With Broadstripe, I am paying on average of $60.37 per month for a 15Mbps connection that rarely gives me over a tenth of the advertised rate.

After about the 5th person I talked to on the phone at Broadstripe, he said there is no 15mbps connection in Port Townsend, and that 6mbps is the max capability. Hmmm.. Selling a 15mbps connection but really only offering a peak of 6mbps service that delivers 1.5mbps average?

Here are some Qwest rates for DSL found at http://www.qwest.com/residential/internet/broadbandlanding/ :

I have now had a chance to use and tax each Internet Provider with similar loads. I am quite impressed with Qwest DSL over Broadstripe. I'm even more impressed at the rates. Even at 20Mbps, it's still $15 less than what I'm paying for a connection that gives less than 1Mbps in the evenings for $60+ per month.

In my mind, Broadstripe is straight up ripping off their customers, which, I do feel embarassed for being a customer the last 10 years.

If you are a Broadstripe customer, I'd like to know what your speedtest is.. I've been using: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest

If you're using Qwest DSL, similarely, what are your rates on the same test, per however much you pay monthly?

Thanks!
